In theaters: August 28, 2009 Anna Wintour, the legendary editor-in-chief of Vogue magazine for twenty years, is the most powerful and polarizing figure in fashion. Hidden behind her trademark bob and sunglasses, she has never allowed anyone to scrutinize the inner workings of her magazine. Until now. With unprecedented access, filmmaker RJ Cutlers new film THE SEPTEMBER ISSUE does for fashion what he did for politics in The War Room, taking the viewer inside a world they only think they know. Every August a record-breaking number of people cant wait to get their hands on the September issue of Vogue. The 2007 issue was and remains the biggest ever, weighing over four pounds, selling thirteen million copies, and impacting the $300-billion global fashion industry more than any other single publication. An intimate, funny and surprising look at Anna Wintour and her team of larger-than-life editors as they create this must-have Bible of fashion, Cutler explores the untouchable glamour of Wintours Vogue to reveal the extraordinarily passionate people at its heart. He takes us behind the scenes at Fashion Week, to Europe, on shoots and reshoots, and into closed-door staff meetings, bearing witness to an arduous, entertaining, and sometimes emotionally demanding process. Song: STYLOPHONIC – BABY BEAT BOX Ad Details (from www.commercialcloset.org/ ) Brand: Dolce & Gabbana/D&G Ad Title: Time Business Category: Fashion/Apparel Media Outlets: Television Country: Italy Region: Europe Agency: FilmLover Year: 2006, 2005 Target: Gays & Mainstream A man is stopped on the street and asked for directions. As he points, a woman in the passenger seat notices he’s wearing two watches, intertwined, on his wrist. Afterward, she picks up on the idea, and then so does another fellow she shows. In each following scene, someone sees another person wearing two watches on their wrist (also once popular in the ’80s), starting a trend. Then the music stops temporarily as a man working on the engine of a car is approached by the fellow who originally gave directions. As they stand next to the vehicle, the first man hands the other one of his two watches, and the music returns and they kiss. Clearly, gay men are the fashion setters in this ad! This ad was cleared by England’s Advertising Standards Authority, an independent regulator for ads, despite 89 complaints, many of whom objected to children seeing it. Nineteen viewers reportedly complained that the kiss made the ad unacceptable at any time, but the remaining objections were that children might watch during the times the ad was on.
